Conscious inclusion training – mitigating bias by redesigning the system

Many organisations have invested in inclusion training, but without proceeding with intention and practical relevance, businesses often fail to leverage the full potential of these trainings and translate learning into measurable behaviour change.

FAIRER Consulting's conscious inclusion programme equips your people, from individual contributors to senior leaders, with the tools to reshape behaviours and business systems using principles from behavioural science.

This programme is designed to move beyond theory into practical action, helping participants reflect on their role in creating respectful and inclusive cultures.

Why conscious inclusion matters for business

Conscious inclusion is about embedding equity into decision-making, systems and processes, and workplace culture.

Based on the principles of behavioural science, FAIRER Consulting's conscious inclusion programme aims to enact cultural change, offering actionable strategies to move the dial on inclusivity in the workplace.

Inclusive companies are 1.7 times more likely to be innovation leaders, report greater revenue and make better business decisions (eduMe).

This training programme is designed to help clients move from insight into action, supporting a return on investment for DEI
21-1

How the programme works

We focus on helping organisations build consciously inclusive cultures by exploring how everyday behaviours, assumptions and interactions shape people’s experience at work. This includes elevating conversations from recognising bias, to actively shaping cultures around curiosity, empathy and valuing difference.

We deliver our interventions in a range of ways to suit your needs, including virtual, in-person or hybrid workshops, pre-reading, optional follow-on learning, nudges and e-learning.

Our interactive programme addresses:

  • Conscious Inclusion in practice– What inclusive behaviour looks like in everyday workplace interactions
  • Behavioural change – Actionable strategies to address bias at its root, including practical ways to build curiosity, empathy and confidence in conversations across difference
  • Inclusive cultures – Tools and strategies for creating environments where people feel valued, respected and able to contribute
Our programmes are designed using insights from behavioural science and social psychology.

We look at how they shape everyday behaviours and interactions, and what actually works to mitigate bias.

How do workplace interactions shape culture?
We explore how language (including microaggressions), assumptions and behaviour can strengthen or undermine inclusion.
4
How can people engage across difference more effectively?
We build confidence in respectful, curious and constructive interactions.
5
What does active allyship look like?
We introduce practical tools for supporting others and responding well when inclusion is challenged.

Case study: Attracting and retaining diverse talent

A major transport business wanted to improve diversity and inclusion, particularly around race. Leaders felt uncomfortable discussing DE&I topics, and previous initiatives had limited impact.

FAIRER Consulting delivered a series of conscious inclusion workshops, including “Let’s Talk About Race”, for employees across all levels. The programme created safe spaces for dialogue, encouraged reflection on everyday behaviours and interactions, and provided practical strategies to embed inclusive practices.

The impact included increased openness, changes in behaviour, and managers feeling more confident addressing inclusion issues.
