What is National Inclusion Week?
National Inclusion Week is an annual event that seeks to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion in the workplace. It's a time to involve everyone - regardless of background - to celebrate diverse communities.
This year's theme is 'Now is the Time', encouraging organisations to take immediate action towards building more inclusive workplaces, with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion, urgency, resilience and the need to push forward.

7 daily micro-actions for National Inclusion Week
This year's Inclusion Week is all about prompting immediate action. Not sure where to start? We've suggested a list of daily moments that can build momentum, based on the National Inclusion Week themes of diversity, inclusion, urgency, resilience and the need to push forward.
Use the arrows to scroll through 7 micro-actions that you can take today.
1. Diversity tip: Invite someone new to the table
In meetings or creative sessions, include voices that don't usually get heard. If someone hasn't spoken up for a while, gently invite them to offer their input. For example, "Alex, I'm keen to hear what you think". By supportively offering a space to speak, you are demonstrating that you respect everyone's opinion.
2. Diversity tip: Review your recruitment imagery and language
Does your messaging reflect the diversity you're trying to attract? Look for exclusionary language in job descriptions and consider including a diversity statement in your job advertisements.
3. Inclusion tip: Ask colleagues how they like to work
Everybody works differently. Ask your colleagues how they prefer to work and communicate. Understanding each person's unique style can boost understanding, trust and collaboration.
4. Urgency tip: Fast-track a DEI idea
Pick a suggestion that's been sitting idle and commit to action this week. You don't have to complete the entire initiative in a week, but small moments can build momentum.
5. Resilience tip: Celebrate progress, not perfection
Get into the habit of acknowledging the journey your organisation has already taken. While it's important to have goals, celebrating the progress made so far is a useful way to maintain momentum and morale.
6. Urgency tip: Check in on DEI to maintain accountability
Delegate tasks to every stakeholder in the DEI agenda and keep them accountable. Every team meeting should include a check on outstanding DEI actions, timeframes and progress.
7. Pushing forward: Ask "What's next?" at every event
After every talk, conference, webinar or panel discussion, ask yourself, "What's next? What did I learn? What can I change?"
