Building awareness of sexual harassment

The challenge

FAIRER was commissioned by a world-renowned London luxury five-star hotel to design and facilitate a series of in-person workshops intended to increase awareness and understanding of sexual harassment for all senior leaders and heads of department across the hotel.

What we did

Following an expansive ‘getting to know you’ exercise, we designed and delivered a series of in-person workshops that 
were specifically designed to:

  • Define sexual harassment and understand the environments where it can take place.

  • Raise awareness of the new duty to prevent sexual harassment.

  • Understand the potential impact and consequences of sexual harassment, particularly within the context of the high-profile luxury hospitality industry.

  • Understand individual responsibility in ensuring a respectful culture free from sexual harassment.

  • To provide a framework for ensuring the prevention of sexual harassment when dealing with high-profile guests, aligned to the organisation’s values.

Outcome

In response to the success of the workshops and feedback received from senior leaders and heads of departments, the hotels Learning & Development department took the decision to expand the programme to all approximate 500 employees across all departments, including all front-of-house, guest experience, housekeeping, maintenance and other behind the scenes employees.

FAIRER was tasked with supporting the hotel's in-house team with the upskilling required to deliver this training using a ‘Train the Trainer’ approach, including the provision of relevant training materials and additional advice and guidance to nominated trainers.
